Chuknagar: Sculpture is another name for horror in 1971

Rubayet Hridoy Khulna City Representative: Light by lighting a candle, Aadhaar goes to match .. And how much blood is shed to get this freedom,

On 20 May 1971, 10,000 innocent people were brutally killed by the Pakistani army in Chuknagar village of Dumuria upazila of Khulna in collaboration with local allies. This is the biggest massacre in one day in the history of the world. Probably nowhere else in the history of the world so many people have been killed in one day.
The Chuknagar memorial was erected 35 years after independence, but a full complex has not yet been erected on the slaughterhouse, even though 50 years have passed. The list of names of all the martyrs is not clear and the children of the martyrs have not been recognized. Families somehow survive in extreme poverty.
During the war of independence in 1971, the first Razakar force was officially formed in the southern part of Bangladesh on 5 May. This razakar force was led by the then Jamaat leader AKM Yusuf along with many others. The persecution of freedom fighters and especially religious minorities started in Khulna and Bagerhat areas with the cooperation and direct participation of razakar forces.

Thousands of people from various upazilas including Mongla, Rampal in Bagerhat and Batiaghata, Dakop, Fultala in Khulna took refuge in Chuknagar area of Dumuria upazila to escape torture and go to India to save their lives. They then considered the region a safe route to India. They thought they would cross the border to India via Keshabpur, before which they gathered in groups at the place. It was expected that the Pakistani forces would not come here as there were many rivers around the unpaved roads and canals.

But after receiving the news with the help of their accomplices, the Pakistani army entered Chuknagar from Satkhira by truck and jeep around noon. According to eyewitnesses at that time, they started firing from Patkhola beel and then came towards Chuknagar market. They continued firing till 3 pm and killed many people. At least 10,000 people were shot dead by the Pakistani army, and the waters of the Bhadra River turned red with blood.

Even though such a massacre has not yet been written in detail, even the Chuknagar massacre has not been properly detailed in the independence documents. Many slums of Bangladesh are neglected and the widowed villages are still the victims of lamentations. The government has to come forward more firmly, build various monuments, complexes and museums.

This delta is awake with the blood of thousands of people, this fifty year old Bangladesh is standing on the mound of blood, flesh and bone marrow. And let the deeds be far-reaching to preserve the memory of the martyrs, so that the thoughts of the liberating people may be carried by the next generation.
